Also known as pinacolborane. Applied for borylation of aryl chlorides, aryl bromide and aryl iodides in Palladium- or nickel-catalyzed coupling reaction or CuI-catalyzed coupling reaction. 1,2,3,4,5 Used as a borylation reagent for preparing 2-borylpyrroles from 2-iodopyrroles via palladium catalysis.5 Reagent for hydroboration of terminal and internal aliphatic alkenes in the presence of dppm and [Ir(cod)Cl]2,6 for efficient amide-directed catalytic asymmetric hydroboration 7 and for the preparation of boronates for Suzuki-type couplings.8 Recently used for preparing a Boron-substituted analogue of the Shvo hydrogenation catalyst for catalytic hydroboration of aldehydes, imines, and ketones.9
