A reagent commonly used with CH3MgCl/LiCl to affect magnesium-halogen exchange on unprotected aryl carboxylic acids.1 Applied for preparing reactive organometallic reagents such as TurboGrignards to increase both the rate and the efficiency of Mg-halogen exchange reaction.2 Used to prepare various functionalized aryl boronic esters derived from hexylene glycol and pinacol,3 functionalize pyridine N-Oxides via iodine or bromine-magnesium exchange,4 allow a sequential 2,3-difunctionalization of various 2-arylsulfinyl furans, thiophenes and benzofurans with TMPMgCl·LiCl (TMP = 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidyl).5
