A speciality solvent for polar polymers and organic synthesis.1,2 It has also found use in biochemistry to solubilize peptides and and peptide intermediates with high solubilizing potential.3,4 It’s been used in the absence of catalysts to allow electrophilic activation of hydrogen peroxide toward epoxidation of alkenes and the Baeyer−Villiger oxidation of ketones.5 Employed as a fluorinated solvent to enhance the efficiency of rhodium(I)-catalyzed [4+2] intramolecular cycloaddition of ether-tethered alkynyl dienes and [5+2] cycloaddition of alkynyl vinylcyclopropanes.6
